There may be people reading this who have yet to hear about the tizi device and what it is, or what benefits it can provide to users. tizi is a mobile device which provides a TV hotspot for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPads effectively providing mobile television without any wires or adapters.
The device offers user the ability to turn their iOS device into a stylish TV set providing digital free-over-the-air television (DTT) services without the need to use any cellular data. The only requirements are an iOS device, the tizi device and the free of charge tizi.tv application from the App Store.
The theory behind the service is relatively simple. The tizi device comes with an attached antenna, which when extended picks up a digital over-the-air (DTT) TV signal, subsequently broadcasting it over Wi-Fi to the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch which has the tizi.tv application running. The beauty of the service is that the device itself is pocket sized and allows up to three and a half hours of playback.
The developers at Equinux have taken things a step further with the introduction of the tizi remote application, available as a free of charge download for the iPad or iPhone from the App Store. The remote app allows human relaxation to be taken to the next level by controlling your tizi TV enabled iPad using your iPhone. The application features the ability to change channels, record TV Shows and pause live TV shows all from the comfort of your couch.
If you are lucky enough to be an iPhone 4S owner then you can harness the power of Siri, using voice commands to change to whatever TV channel you desire. The intelligent personal assistant included on the 4S will parse your command and instruct tizi to obey your orders.
The tizi services, including the device itself and applications are currently only available in Europe, so our American friends will need to resort to one of the old fashioned methods of watching television on the iPad. If you own the device and are planning on using the new remote app then you will need to make sure you have updated to the latest version of the tizi.tv app via the App Store.
